Brett Latimer has one of the highest possible student satisfaction rankings at Brigham Young University and the BYU Salt Lake extension, where for the past approximately 8 years he has taught American Heritage, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, World Civilizations, and World Religions. Brett was also a volunteer teacher at American Heritage School of Pleasant Grove in 1999, where his children attended for a brief time before the family moved to another location. Quoting from Brett's application cover letter: "I have an enduring love of youth. I have served in various capacities among this remarkable rising generation, including as a teacher in a private school and more recently as a scoutmaster, a Sunday school teacher and a deacons quorum adviser. In their eyes one can discern the hopeful vision for our nation and a sparkle of divine potential. I like them, and they seem to like me, especially as their teacher! I also have an enduring love of teaching. Teaching was not something I pursued initially but was rather drawn to after experiencing profound learning moments under the guidance of masterful teachers -- the kind of learning that touches your mind and soul and causes you to see yourself and the world in a new light. I wanted to continue experiencing such moments and to share them with others. I have taught over 20,000 students and regardless of their age I have tried to convey that the sweetest fruits of continuous learning involve the potential for greater service to others in the various capacities of this life and beyond." Brett and his wife Terri are the parents of 5 children . __________________________________________________________________________
